Bay Area Community Foundation Announces Curtis Retirement and Search for New President & CEO

Bay City, MI – Eileen A. Curtis, President & CEO of the Bay Area Community Foundation, has announced her retirement effective December 2017.  Curtis has served as President & CEO since 2007.  The Foundation’s Board of Trustees regretfully accepted Curtis’s resignation and has begun a search for her replacement. The Board has hired In-Fusion Group LLC to assist in the recruitment effort.

Since joining the Foundation in 2007, Curtis has overseen a 35% growth in assets from $27 million to $36 million.  During her tenure the Foundation has awarded over $13 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students pursuing postsecondary education. Curtis played an integral role in the implementation of the Bay Commitment First Generation Scholarship and the Great Lakes Bay College and Career Resource Center.  Working closely with the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, she was one of the community leaders implementing the Bay County Road Map to the Future.  Curtis served as a Director on the boards of the Council of Michigan Foundations, the Michigan College Access Network, the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council, Mid-Michigan Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and McLaren Bay Region.

Curtis. “The Bay Area Community Foundation has been a community partner since it was established in 1982.”  Curtis continued, “I truly appreciated the opportunity to assist the Foundation’s donors in fulfilling their philanthropic wishes.  I will miss working with the Foundation and residents of our area.  In retirement, I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and traveling.”
