Our Community Response to COVID-19:

Administered by the Bay Area Community Foundation, the COVID-19 Community Response Funds for Bay County will provide flexible resources to organizations in our area working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

How the Fund is Helping

So far, grants have been made to the following organizations:

  • Dow Bay Area Family YMCA: To provide emergency food boxes and meals for youth.
  • Golden Horizons/Bay County Department on Aging: To support outreach services to caregivers of those with dementia during the Center’s temporary shutdown.
  • CAN Council of the Great Lakes Bay Region: To provide diaper rash ointment and baby wipes for families in need alongside diaper distribution.
  • Hidden Harvest: To purchase food to make up for one half of resources normally obtained through the Postal Food Drive which had to be cancelled due to COVID.
  • Salvation Army: For resources to continue take-out meals.
  • Safe Harbor Kitchen: June food truck distribution.
  • Trinity Food of Faith: To purchase takeout containers, gloves, and masks to continue their meal takeout.
  • Pinconning Emergency Food Pantry: June food truck distribution.

 

Our Status

Our offices are open by appointment only. Call us at 989-893-4423. All staff are available during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The best way to reach us is via email, and you can access staff's contact information from the staff page on our website.

 

Looking Ahead: Reopening

Nonprofit Resources, Grants, and Loan Program

From closed offices and cancelled fundraising events to adapting programming for the digital landscape, we know that our local nonprofits are feeling the effects of COVID-19 in varying ways, both big and small. Know that the work you are doing is important and that together, we will see our community through this.

Bay Area Community Foundation is offering up to $250,000 through the newly established Nonprofit Operating Support Loan Program. Click here to learn more about this loan program and other resources available to nonprofits in response to COVID-19.

We are continuing business as usual through off-site and remote access. Donations, donor advised grant recommendations, and grant payments are still being processed as usual. You can still make donations online by clicking here.
