Environment Committee

A sizeable gift from the Department of Environmental Quality in 1994 fueled a smoldering interest that burst into a dynamic effort for Bay Area Community Foundation. Soliciting endowments for environmentally oriented agencies, developing wetland parks, and building wood duck houses and observation platforms are recent successes for this active volunteer committee.

The Purpose Statement of the Environment Committee: Promote environmental awareness and stewardship to improve our quality of life now and for future generations.

The Goals of the Environment Committee:

  • Foster coordination, cooperation and communication
  • Promote environmental education for all ages
  • Balance environmental, social and economic objectives
  • Create a sense of place
  • Enhance environmental granting capabilities
