Bay Commitment Scholarship

Celebrating 10 Years of Student Success

The Bay Commitment Scholarship was established in 2008, by the Bay Area Community Foundation, to create a sustainable scholarship program. The program’s goal is to encourage first-generation students in Bay County to earn a post-secondary education.

Created by a vision to provide opportunity and to drive our area’s economic prosperity, the Bay Commitment Scholarship program awards $2,000 for up to 100 students annually. These students are first-generation college students (neither parent who the student lives with has a bachelor’s degree) seeking a certificate or degree at Delta College or Saginaw Valley State University. These students go on to become welders, teachers, accountants, nurses, computer analysts, lawyers, and everything in between. The scholarship is a commitment to them from the community, pushing them forward to pursue their academic dreams.

Our community’s commitment to these students today is a commitment to our community’s future tomorrow.
