Letter of Intent Forms Now Available for Healthy Living Fund

In June 2018, the Bay Area Community Foundation was a proud recipient of $1 million from The Dow Corning Foundation alongside Midland Area Community Foundation and Saginaw Community Foundation for healthy communities. The $1 million to BACF has created our Healthy Living Fund which will award grants to projects that provide recreation and healthy experiences to residents and visitors in Bay and/or Arenac counties.

Applications for grants from the Healthy Living Fund at Bay Area Community Foundation will be accepted at the beginning of each year for the next five years or until the funds are exhausted.

To express interest in a grant from this fund, eligible organizations (must be a 501(c)(3), government entity, or school in Bay or Arenac counties) must call Program Officer Joni King at 989-893-4438. If eligible, you will receive a Letter of Intent Form to complete and submit by 5 p.m. on the first Monday in February. Selected applicants will then submit the full, online grant application by the second Monday in March.

The first awards from this fund were awarded in 2018 to the Play City playscape build in Bay City and the Bay City State Park Playground rebuild.

Funded Projects from the Healthy Living Fund will:

  • be submitted by a government entity, school, or registered 501(c)(3) organization in Bay or Arenac counties,
  • provide an experience that promotes a healthier lifestyle,
  • provide a place where people can meet and gather,
  • provide for ongoing maintenance,
  • and be comprised of more than one funding source.

To apply, contact Program Officer Joni King at 989-893-4438.
