Thank you for another record-breaking Give Local Bay!

Thanks for helping raise more than $160,000 for our nonprofit community!

Wow. You helped make history (AGAIN!) on May 4 with our biggest giving day yet! We can’t thank you enough!

Our seventh annual Give Local Bay raised more than $160,000 for local nonprofit organizations. In 2019, $50K was raised by the community. Last year, $116K was raised by the community. This year, you all raised more than $131,000. This was matched with $28,250 from the Bay Area Community Foundation in incentive funds and prizes plus additional incentive dollars from our event at Drydock Beer Garden. These dollars help respond to immediate needs and help build long-term growth for some of our greatest community assets.

“After a record-breaking year in 2020, we weren’t sure what to expect. But this community’s generosity and outpouring of support shone through yet again this year in an even bigger way. It is a recognition and celebration of the critical work our nonprofits do day in and day out. Great things happen when we come together,” said Diane Fong, president and CEO of the Bay Area Community Foundation.

The Bay Area Community Foundation provided an additional $25,000 incentive pool as well as $3,250 in additional fund prizes. An additional more than $900+ was added to the incentive pool through the “Raise a Glass” fundraiser at Drydock Beer Garden, held Tuesday evening. All proceeds and tips from the drink sales benefit all participating organizations.

The organizations that raised the most money during the event are BaySail, Ye Olde Courthouse/Arenac County Historical Society, and Bay City Rowing Club. Final leaderboards can be viewed at www.givelocalbay.org.

Bay City Rowing Club won the LiUNA-Local 1098 sponsor prize by being the first to surpass $1,098 in online gifts. Bay Area Community Foundation added an additional prize winner for the “Most Creative Post” after seeing how much effort the nonprofits put into creating content to promote Give Local Bay. Hell’s Half Mile Events and Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy both won $250 prizes for their videos which you can view on their Facebook pages.

The Bay Area Community Foundation would like to thank presenting sponsor LiUNA—Local 1098, prize sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and the community for their incredible support throughout the day.
