The Bay Area Community Foundation (BACF) in partnership with the Bay City Public Schools and the Bay-Arenac ISD received a grant through the Michigan College Access Network to fund a free event designed to assist Bay and Arenac County students with completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and applying to college. This event will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Delta College Planetarium. Students from the class of 2024, or graduating years prior, are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required but encouraged.
The event will be street-fair style, providing space needed to complete applications along with food, games and prizes. FAFSA specialists and admissions counselors will be available to provide guidance and support to students during the event and throughout the application process. Any Bay or Arenac County student who registers for the event and completes their FAFSA by August 12 will be entered to win a college scholarship from BACF.
“The Bay Area Community Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that every student can pursue higher education without financial barriers. By providing resources and support, our goal is to make the FAFSA and college application process as accessible and enjoyable as possible,” said Diane Mahoney, President & CEO of the Bay Area Community Foundation.
In addition to assistance, the first 100 students who register for the event will receive:
- A $10 Food Truck Voucher
- A $10 Gas Card
- Up to 3 FREE Kona Ice per family
After the event, join Downtown Bay City for “Wednesdays in the Park” featuring “The Classic Women of Country” at Wenona Park starting at 7:00 PM.

I am proud to serve my community through my role at BACF. As a Program Officer, I collaborate with nonprofit, government, church, and school partners in Bay and Arenac counties to navigate our grant opportunities and find the right funding alignment. From project conception to post-award, I am your main contact for all things grants. Connecting organizations and donors who share the same vision and passion is at the heart of my work.
