Bay Area Community Foundation Opens Bay County Opioid Remediation Grant Program

Bay City, MI – TheBay Area Community Foundation (BACF) is now accepting applications for the Bay County Opioid Remediation Grant Program.  BACF appreciates the partnership with the County of Bay to steward the Opioid Settlement Funds to impactful programs for Bay County residents.  This is the inaugural grant application cycle for this new partnership.

The grant program supports nonprofit organizations addressing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and co-occurring Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health (SUD/MH) conditions through evidence-based or evidence-informed programs and strategies in Bay County.  Eligible programs may support treatment, prevention, and other approved opioid remediation activities.

Funding for this program is made possible through nationwide legal settlements with pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies for their role in the opioid epidemic. The County of Bay has allocated an initial investment of $1,373,742.89 to BACF to support opioid remediation efforts throughout Bay County. BACF has now created a grant program to award funding. Through this inaugural grant cycle, a portion of these funds will be distributed to eligible uses working to improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities impacted by opioid use.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
  • Registered faith-based organizations
  • Public entities, such as governmental agencies and educational institutions
  • Projects fiscally sponsored by an eligible nonprofit, faith-based organization, or public entity

Organizations must propose opioid remediation work that benefits Bay County residents impacted by OUD and aligns with the eligible uses outlined in the grant guidelines.

Applications will be accepted through the Bay Area Community Foundation’s online grants portal beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, and closing at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The application process includes two steps. Organizations must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), which must be approved before access to the full application is granted. Applicants are encouraged to allow adequate time for the LOI review process prior to the application deadline.

Grant applications will be reviewed by BACF staff for eligibility and completeness before being evaluated by BACF’s Opioid Remediation Committee.  Funding recommendations will be presented to the BACF Board of Trustees for final approval, with award notifications anticipated in mid-November 2026.

I am proud to serve my community through my role at BACF. As a Program Officer, I collaborate with nonprofit, government, church, and school partners in Bay and Arenac counties to navigate our grant opportunities and find the right funding alignment. From project conception to post-award, I am your main contact for all things grants. Connecting organizations and donors who share the same vision and passion is at the heart of my work.

I am dedicated to supporting the organizations that work tirelessly to improve our community. Additionally, I provide capacity-building opportunities by hosting educational workshops, managing Catchafire—a volunteer platform connecting organizations with professional services at no cost—and offering technical assistance and resources to build strength in our nonprofit community.
