Perhaps operations have already shifted, or perhaps you're only starting to experience the longer-term implications. Here at the Community Foundation, we are listening and working through ways to best serve you. Know that the work you do is important and that together, we will see our community through this.

  • The Great Lakes Bay College and Career Resource Center  helped Forest Bradley to prepare for and take his GED test so that he could be a firefighter.

  • Established with memorial contributions when Michael Dwan passed away in 2007, his family created the Dwan Family Donor Advised Fund to honor his commitment to the community. Since that time, the family has directed charitable disbursements to a variety of projects.

  • Join us for the annual MLK Regional Celebration as we honor our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Regional Scholarship recipients and hear from Keynote Speaker Valerie Jarrett.

  • Bay Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce that 221 Bay and Arenac county residents will receive a total of more than $335K in scholarships for continuing education. Click here to see the recipients and learn more.

  • Last year, Bay Area Community Foundation’s Community Initiative Fund awarded a grant of $7,000 to The Legacy Center to help Bay County students with reading, writing, and spelling through an after-school, one-on-one tutoring program.

  • With support from the community, Area 9 Special Olympics purchased a team van, eliminating regular rental costs and allowing all their athletes to ride together and build team camaraderie. This was made possible by grants from Bay Area Community Foundation’s Nathalie Awrey Memorial Fund and Civic League of Bay County Fund as well as funding from the Leslie L. Squires Foundation and SC Johnson.

  • Rosemary Pope's generosity will open more doors for first-generation college students and families who have suffered from abuse.

  • Each spring, Bay Area Community Foundation grants out nearly half a million dollars in scholarships to our local Bay and Arenac county students and residents looking to return to school. This year, the online scholarship application is due on Monday, March 4.

  • Bay Area Community Foundation awarded a grant of $75,000 from the Healthy Living Fund to the City of Au Gres to build a splash pad at Harbor Park.

  • For ten years, Rob Hendry, aquatics director at Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, wanted the local elementary schools to add swimming and water safety classes to their curriculum. Drownings are the fifth leading cause of unintentional injury death, making it important that children learn early on how to be safe around water. This past year, thanks to grants from Bay Area Community Foundation’s Civic League Fund and Youth Advisory Committee Fund, Rob saw his dream become a reality..
