Health & Wellness

  • Thanks to our generous donors, Bay Area Community Foundation awarded 64 grants during the first grant cycle to organizations in our community that support arts and culture, community initiatives, environment, education, health and wellness, human services, and recreation.

  • In a philanthropy circle, the donations of many come together for a big impact.

  • The new climbing wall at Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum allows Bay County children with disabilities to work with their therapists in a safe and fun environment.

  • Resources are available to improve health and wellness—it will take early intervention.

  • The Richmond Brothers are busy farmers, but each year they find time to volunteer to help feed our local community.

  • Bay Area Community Foundation awarded $11,500 to the Lions of Michigan Foundation for their KIDsight Mobile Vision Screening Unit.

  • We must be bold in facing these uncertainties, challenges, and social issues. As a community foundation, we are meeting these challenges head-on with community as our focus. These matters will not be solved overnight. Their impact will be long-term, and we must prepare for an extended response.

  • Community foundations play an important role in creating a vibrant community for future generations to enjoy. By working together with other community leaders, we help initiate new projects and programs that work toward those goals.

  • Over $385,000 awarded during the first cycle of the 2022 Community Partnership Grants.  

    Did you notice the name change? BACF Semiannual Grants will now be referred to as Community Partnership Grants to reflect the nature of our work with area nonprofits.

  • As life returns to normal post-pandemic, there are many reasons to celebrate...and Give Local Bay is one of those reasons. Join us on Tuesday, May 3, as Bay Area Community Foundation hosts a 24-hour online giving day at www.givelocalbay.org to raise funds for nonprofits in Bay and Arenac counties who have weathered the storm. With $25,000 in matching funds and an additional $3,000 in incentive prizes for nonprofits, it’s a celebration where your gift goes further. .

  • The idea of running around a gym or playing basketball may not be appealing for all. Such was the case for some children at Standish-Sterling Central Elementary—that is until they started using heart rate monitors.

  • From closed offices and cancelled fundraising events to adaptive programming for the digital landscape, we know that our local nonprofits are feeling the effects of COVID-19 in varying ways, both big and small. Perhaps operations have already shifted, or perhaps you're only starting to experience the longer-term implications. Here at the Community Foundation, we are listening and working through ways to best serve you. Know that the work you do is important and that together, we will see our community through this.

  • Bay Area Community Foundation awarded a grant of $75,000 from the Healthy Living Fund to the City of Au Gres to build a splash pad at Harbor Park.

  • Twenty-Two Nonprofits Awarded Funding Through Bay County Nonprofit ARPA Grant Program 

     

    The Bay Area Community Foundation (BACF) announces 22 nonprofit organizations will be receiving grant awards through the Bay County Nonprofit ARPA Grant Program.

  • The Women's Philanthropy Circle at Bay Area Community Foundation awarded a grant to Great Lakes Bay Health Centers to provide new mothers with portable cribs and car seats.
